"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
Calvary Baptist Church
"After being saved as a college sophomore I transferred to the University of Georgia where I completed a BS degree in Agriculture. While at Georgia I met and married my precious wife, Claudia. I worked for the USDA for three years at which point God called me to preach. I attended Bob Jones University for training graduating with a MA in Pastoral Studies in 1982. God has given us two precious children, Cody and Abby, and 9 grandchildren. Before I have pastored two churches for a combined span of 26 years.
After stepping down as pastor of Victory Baptist Church of James Island, SC, I traveled in itinerant evangelism for seven years. In June of 2015, after 23 years of God’s blessings, I stepped down as pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Starr, SC to re-enter full time itinerant evangelism. This Summer the Lord lead us to Calvary Baptist in Hartwell, GA.
I was born again in a revival meeting at the age of twenty. My brother Chip Bill was very instrumental in me coming to Christ. We were both raised in a non-Christian home and were hopeless and clueless prior to Christ. My brother, saved earlier, drug me to the meeting where I heard for the first time a clear presentation of the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ. I responded at the invitation and moved forward believing God’s gospel and receiving God’s Son Jesus Christ into my heart and life, hallelujah!
My burden is to preach the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is the power of God to save sinners from judgment and to new life. Christ’s death, burial and resurrection are the shared experiences of those who walk with God daily. The lethargy of the church today is not reflective of disciples of Christ who truly “get it”, the gospel! My desire is to preach the gospel to see lost sinners saved and to see saved sinners live like they are dead, buried and alive with Christ! I am also burdened to see personal discipleship become a mainstay of the local church. The dwindling numbers of young adults with families in many of our fundamental churches these days is an indication that discipleship has been neglected. Join with me in prayer for God to set our hearts on fire for and with the gospel!"
